Aesthetics, craft and industry, all in harmony
This elegant, vertical garden is a result of the collaboration between product engineer Stijn Vernaillen and manufacturer D&M Depot for Triennial of Design themed ‘Hands on Design’. The combination of aesthetics and functionality with handicraft, technical knowledge and industry results in an innovative design. The modules fall into place as a puzzle, which takes a minimal amount of space. The form is determined by its functionality. With only one action, the water circuit starts circulating and the garden comes alive. The plants only take as much water as they need, while the rest remains in the reservoir. Different sizes can be combined endlessly, both indoors and outdoors. An intriguing interaction between simplicity and beauty begins. This artwork is also exhibited at the museum of design at Ghent 2016-2017.
